Christopher Renteria is an award winning commercial and documentary filmmaker and photographer based in St Louis, Missouri. He captured hundreds of hours of footage and evocative stills on the streets of Ferguson and St. Louis in the wake of Michael Brown’s killing. Several of these formed collaborative Ferguson photo retrospectives at Duke
University and in St Louis & Wade in the Water at the Kranzberg Arts
Chris has produced and directed short films focusing on the social and
environmental challenges facing the St Louis region. His work continues to
focus on shining a light on a vibrant youth and documenting the voice of
St. Louis future leaders. Magnolia Pictures’ WHOSE STREETS? by Sabaah Folayan and Damon Davis was Renteria’s first foray as a producer into feature-length documentary. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017.
His work has been featured by CNN, Tumblr, The Food Network, PBS and
published by numerous websites, and he has held solo and group exhibitions across the country.
Chris is Co-founder and Creative Producer for The St. Louis Photo
Authority®, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the visual arts
and community engagement by training children and adults in storytelling
with the mediums of photography and video.
